1939 Evinrude Sportsman 4296 2hp Outboard w/Stand
The 1939 Evinrude Sportsman 2 HP is a classic outboard motor known for its simplicity, reliability, and portability. The fact that this particular motor was carefully restored by a Rolls-Royce mechanic adds a layer of prestige and assurance of quality to its restoration. This mechanic would have applied their expertise in precision and craftsmanship to the restoration, ensuring the motor is not only functional and finished to a high standard.
The Sportsman Model 4296 was part of Evinrude's line of small, lightweight motors aimed at recreational boaters. With 2 HP, it was ideal for canoes, and other small crafts.
By 1939, Evinrude had mastered the production of efficient, user-friendly outboard motors. Pre-WWII Evinrude motors are increasingly rare, especially in restored or functional condition.
This motor is not just a piece of history but a testament to the craftsmanship of both Evinrude and the skilled individual who restored it.

1957 Tecumseh Dragonfly H-81 Air-Thrust Outboard
An all- season cast metal outboard made to push a boat on ice as well as water, Restored working condition, 45"Η x 20"L x 36"W.
Tecumseh Dragonfly 81 engine typically has a displacement of around 8.1 cubic inches, which translates to roughly 5 horsepower, with a single cylinder, air-cooled design;
Dragonfly outboards, manufactured by the Robertson-Hedges Company in Kansas City, Missouri, were produced from the mid-1950s to the late 1960s. These air-drive outboards, powered by air-cooled Power Products motors, were available in 2, 4, and 5 horsepower variants.
While the concept of an air-drive outboard may seem logical, the practical implementation proved to be less than ideal. Many owners found that these motors were better suited for unconventional uses, such as providing ventilation in barns during hot summer days.
Despite their limitations, Dragonfly outboards were considered "heavy-duty" by Tecumseh standards, featuring roller bearings on the crankshaft.These motors were designed to operate at full RPM for extended periods.

The 1935 Caille Motor Company single-cylinder outboard motor is a remarkable example of early 20th-century marine engineering. Caille Motor Co., based in Detroit, was an innovative but lesser-known manufacturer that focused on creating high-performance and technically advanced outboard motors.
This motor stood out in its era for incorporating advanced features that were rare or entirely unique at the time, including variable propeller pitch and a 3- speed gear box. The propeller's adjustable pitch was typically seen in larger marine engines, not compact outboards, further demonstrating Caille's engineering ingenuity.
Caille motors are considered rare, as the company did not achieve the mass- market reach of brands like Johnson and Evinrude

6039 Evinrude motors were produced from 1939 to 1951, featuring three distinct lower unit designs. This particular model, likely surplus military stock from the Stormboat era, is identifiable by its extra fins. Given the high production numbers, replacement parts are readily available. However, be warned: this isn't a lightweight motor, even for its relatively small capacity.

The 4398 Military Model is a five-inch longer version of the standard model. The "Heavy Duty" designation likely refers to its reinforced transom clamp and single-tube powerhead-to-gearcase connection. Unlike civilian versions with separate exhaust and driveshaft tubes, this model's design allows for reverse operation. "Air-Borne Reverse" allude to the steering wheel's position around the powerhead, enabling easy spinning of the motor for reverse thrust.
